Minutes of August meeting 08/29/2015
Aloha BIUG members. Eighteen guild members crowded into Bob Gleason’s comfortable shop for our August 29 meeting. Bob emceed an auction of tools, both power and hand, and a number of other useful luthier items donated by himself and former BIUG member Tony Hoke. Enthusiastic bidders snapped up the bargains, earning the guild $550.
During the meeting, Dave Stokes gave us an update on the guild’s Wailoa Art Center exhibit in Hilo.
Gary Cassel spoke about our display at the Waimea Ukulele & Slack Key Guitar Institute at the Kahilu Theatre, including a gallery devoted to the sale of instruments.
Mike Perdue is spearheading the September 26th Sharks Coffee ukulele music and kanikapila as a lead in to our Hilo show. And he’s looking for players!
Prior to lunch, a number of member-built ukulele were passed around for inspection.
Following lunch Woodley lectured on scrimshaw engraving and inlay.
